Garden Hose Reel: The Hose Holder clamps onto the hose (not the nozzle) so any hose attachment or style of nozzle can be held in place by a spring-loaded clamp and aimed in any direction. Tough steel spikes are pushed into the ground by foot and the holder stands 30 inches high. No stooping is necessary, and it holds the hose as long as you need it.
There are people who can start at one end of a plot and walk out a perfect curve, but I am not one of them, so to lay out the initial semicircle we set the garden hose reel hose in place. The hose was like a thick piece of string that kept its position.
Next, my neighbor and I chose the largest stones, each between 14 and 18 inches wide, 18 to 24 inches long, and 3 to 4 inches thick. After laying each stone along the inside curve of the hose, we removed a bit of soil so that the back edge was about an inch lower than the front. That way the rainwater would flow into the bed along the sloping rocks and reach the roots of plants growing along the face of the wall.See Also Butchart Gardens:6. Palaces and butchart gardens Denmark's castles form a very notable company. They mostly date from the 16th century and are almost invariably surrounded by beautiful parks and butchart gardens. In the capital there are Rosenborg and Frederiksberg, supplemented gardenwise by the Royal Horticultural butchart gardens and the city's splendidly landscaped Botanical butchart gardens. Other castles in Zealand are Hiller0d's Frederiksborg (already mentioned), not to be confused with Frederiksfcerg, and Naestved's Gis-selfeld, while beyond the confines of Zealand at least seven leap up in the mind to be counted.
butchart gardens are at their magnificent best in sun-warmed Monaco, so closely guarded from rough winds by the Maritime Alps. Four varied butchart gardens, all beautifully maintained, are the Casino Park and Flower Beds; the Exotic butchart gardens (with interesting grottoes), appropriately known as "Petite Afrique," boasting tropical trees and shrubs; the neighboring Park of Princess Antoinette; and the St. Martin butchart gardens, with their handsome pines, adjacent to the Oceanographic Museum on Monaco Rock.
On The Other Hand See Fairy Garden:The coralbells are mostly from the western part of North America. They prefer a well-drained soil and lots of sun. Heuchera 'Red Sentinel', 12 by 8 inches, holds many tiny bells atop thin, wiry, stems.
Daylilies are usually thought of as being large and only suitable for a perennial border. Hemerocallis 'Good fairy garden of Oz' measures 12 by 6 inches and has rose-colored flowers in perfect scale for the alpine garden.
St. John's wort (Hypericum olympicum), 9 by 12 inches, bears many 1 1/2-inch golden blossoms with dozens of sparkling stamens that float above the petals.
The inclusion of an arresting object within a small garden is an excellent way of detracting the eye from adjacent buildings and into the garden itself. The focal point in this garden is an ornate wrought-iron seat, which leads the eye down the garden. The rather austere rectangular lawn is surrounded by a mass of pretty, shrubby little plants, which together help to soften the overall look of the garden.
