Forbidden Garden: "Personal transportation" by bike would seem to be almost forbidden garden by Switzerland's mountainous nature, but the Swiss National Railroads have thought up an answer even to this poser. They have instituted a Rail-Bicycle Service which, to the best of my knowledge, is unique. At any railway station you may hire a three-gear bike for as long as you like, be it one hour or one day or longer, at published rates and when you're through with it turn it back at any other station. You then pay, in addition to the rental, only a very small charge for the return of the bike to its home station. Insurance both against theft and against third-party liability is covered during the time you have the bike.
The inclusion of an arresting object within a small garden is an excellent way of detracting the eye from adjacent buildings and into the garden itself. The focal point in this garden is an ornate wrought-iron seat, which leads the eye down the garden. The rather austere rectangular lawn is surrounded by a mass of pretty, shrubby little plants, which together help to soften the overall look of the garden.See Also Garden Seeder:Let's suppose that your seed bed is in perfect condition and the seed is at hand. Now comes the business of sowing. Choose a calm day. It is impossible to sow evenly if it is breezy. Divide the seed to be sown in half, then walking in parallel paths in one direction (say north and south) sow one half as evenly as you possibly can over the whole area. When this has been accomplished sow the remaining seed over the same area walking in parallel paths at right angles to the original direction. In this way you will get the most even distribution. The sowing may be done by hand or with a mechanical seeder adjusted to let the seed fall at the density required.
There are many ways of increasing the sense of depth in a garden seeder. Vistas can be emphasized and "lengthened" by stressing the distant perspective. Eye-catching features can be used to draw the eye away into the distance, but there is no need to rely solely on the contents of your garden seeder to do this. Make use of the landscape outside: let the outside world become the focus of your garden seeder vista. If you are fortunate enough to have a garden seeder with an extensive view, make the most of it. Use trees and shrubs to frame a glimpse of the scene beyond the garden seeder.
On The Other Hand See Container Garden:Watering is by far the greatest chore of container gardening and it needs to be done generously and regularly. Rain is never adequate on its own and can fool you into thinking the containers are wetter than they really are. Automatic irrigation is well worth considering for a large container garden.
Container-grown plants are those that are really well established in pots, polyethylene bags or anything else which will ensure that all the roots and the soil around them can be transported and planted with the minimum of disturbance. Although more expensive than bare-rooted or balled plants, container-grown plants can be put in at any time of the year when the soil is in good working condition. Most of the shrubs and climbers offered for sale in garden depots are container grown.
