Flower Girl Basket: Make successive sowings over the summer.
One of my favorite annuals is the basket flower girl basket (Centaurea amen-cana) and it's hard to understand why more fuss isn't made over this plant. This American wildfldwer is interesting in bud and splendid in bloom. Each flower girl basket sits alone on a 4-foot stem and opens to 4 inches across. The color is a light rose, and the flower girl basket resembles an open thistle without thorns. The common name refers to the unopened head, which is surrounded by soft, spiny, strawcolored appendages that overlap and give the distinctive appearance of tiny woven baskets. Basket flower girl baskets require no special soil but grow best in full sun.
In contrast to the bold costumes which are favored, bold-looking girls are not. Rather, the fresh, wholesome and charming girl is the sought-after cover girl. She should be the typical American-girl type, an idealization of the girl next door, rather than exotic or foreign-looking. She must wear makeup for color, of course, but the makeup should look like ordinary street makeup, rather than showgirl or stage makeup. Showgirls, incidentally, often have the poise to make good models, and they can look as homespun as anyone when they are not made up for a performance.See Also Flower Preservation:The firm's staff of 50 includes architects, designers, planners, historians, and materials conservators who work together as a group.
This integrated approach allows key design, preservation, and sustainability decisions to be integrated into the architectural design process.
The goal is to further architecture through preservation which extends far beyond the firm's practice.
There need be no question in your mind about the market for good flower preservation photography. One of the big slide film distributors has found flower preservation fanciers the most consistent buy ers of all among slide collectors, even though the pictures offered are strictly of specimen flower preservations. These cannot possibly have the same appeal as pictures of flower preservations grown by the buyer in his own soil. The only flower preservation fancier who is not an eager prospect for pictures of his blooms is one who has never seen a color slide transparency of a beautiful flower preservation projected. A close-up of a lovely flower preservation on a screen is a sight to make anyone, flower preservation lover or not, gasp at its beauty.
On The Other Hand See April Flowers:The heaths (Erica earned) require the same general conditions as the heathers do and if so rewarded will actually flower on the milder days of winter and on into early spring. Their leaves are more needle-like than heathers. E. carnea 'King George' grows about 12 inches high and blooms from January to May with crimson flowers. 'Pink Spangles' is about 10 inches high and produces pink flowers from mid-February to april flowers. 'Winter Beauty' is perhaps the best; it will begin to produce pink flowers, covering an 8-inch mound of leaves, in late December and intermittently on to early april flowers. Naturally, if covered with many feet of snow, these plants will not perform on schedule but will make up for lost time later in the season.
Last month's market brought the steepest year-over-year sales decline since april flowers 1995, when home purchases slowed 24.0 percent. And april flowers's sales count was the lowest for any april flowers since 24,120 homes were sold in april flowers 2001.
